Sanders challenging Rokita to debates

Sanders challenging Rokita to debates & schedules debates for August

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The Democratic candidate for Congress District Four is challenging his Republican opponent to a series of town hall forums and debates. But David Sanders said Todd Rokita has yet to respond to those requests. Sanders said he sent Rokita’s campaign a formal invitation in early June, but has heard nothing from Rokita or his staff. “A vibrant democracy requires informed voters. I believe the best way for
voters to become informed about candidates is for them to be able to hear those candidates speak in debates,” Sanders said. Sanders said he and Libertarian candidate John Duncan have already scheduled debates in Ellettsville on August 10 and Greenwood on August 24, and have invited Rokita to participate. Rokita campaign spokesperson Mike Sullivan said they received the earlier invitation from Sanders, but Rokita has been waiting for a third party group to organize and host a debate. Sullivan said Rokita was just notified of the debates in August, and will look at his schedule to see if he is available to attend.
