District 9, 4 congressional debates scheduled for the area Herald-Times (Bloomington, IN) Chris Fyall
Ellettsville is set to host a debate next week between two 4th Congressional District candidates, while Bloomington will host an October moderated debate among three candidates for the 9th District seat, organizers announced Thursday.
The western third of Monroe County, including Ellettsville and Stinesville, is in the 4th District, where Republican Todd Rokita faces Democrat David Sanders and Libertarian John Duncan. Morgan and Lawence counties are also part of this district.
Rokita is the Indiana secretary of state, Sanders is an associate professor at Purdue University, and Duncan is an elevator technician.
A debate between Sanders and Duncan is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ellettsville branch of the Monroe County Public Library.
Rokita will not participate, his campaign confirmed.
