EDITORIAL: Debate participation useful

The subject of political debates has made it onto our front page — a sure sign that election season is heating up. The debates — or at least discussion of them, mark the beginning of the airing of issues that should be of concern to us all.
They’re for the Fourth and Ninth congressional districts, which together cover all of Monroe County and much of our area. It’s time to start paying attention. There are serious matters we must address in this coming election.
Too bad that one of the 4th District candidates, current Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, just couldn’t get it together to participate in the debate Tuesday for candidates of that district.
So if you want to get a feel for the other two candidates, Sanders and Libertarian John Duncan, go to Tuesday’s event, 7:30 p.m. at the library in Ellettsville. You’ll have to go elsewhere, some other time, for Rokita’s views.
