Indianapolis Writer Kevin Surface Publishes First Novel, 'The Cuban Connection'

Indianapolis, IN (PRWeb) January 17, 2007 -- Indianapolis writer Kevin Surface announces the publication of his first novel, "The Cuban Connection." The book focuses on Fidel Castro's over-throw of the Cuban government, his consequent rise to power, and the various factions who join together in a bold and daring attempt to end the dictator's life.

Holding a degree in Political Science, Surface has long been a fan of historical fiction. Add to this his love of Tom Clancy-style spy novels, and you've got yourself the makings of a very active imagination. After years of immersing himself in these literary genres, and spurred by a fascination for political espionage and intrigue, Surface was convinced that he could write a novel of his own. The dream began to take shape in 2001, when he began working in earnest on his first project. Five years later, the book was finished.

The excitement Surface expresses regarding his book is contagious. A conversation with him reveals that much of the work's immediate local success is due to persistence. Aggressive marketing led to the book's placement on the shelves of local Borders Bookstores.

This early success in sales lead to scheduled book signings at two Indianapolis Borders locations. If these events go well, Surface expresses hopes for national attention in the near future. Though energized by the attention he has received for his accomplishment, Surface remains humble through it all, calling the adventure of researching, writing and publishing his first novel "The magic carpet ride of my life."

"The Cuban Connection" is currently available through its publisher, Author House, as well as through Amazon.com , and all Indianapolis Borders Books and Music locations, where fans can meet the author at scheduled book signings taking place on Saturday, January 13, 2 PM at Borders, Greenwood, and Saturday, January 27, 2 PM at Borders, River Crossing.
