Sanders Challenges Democratic Opponent to Weekly Debates
Sanders Believes Democratic Voters Would be the Winners of a Discussion Between the Candidates

NEW FREEDOM, PA - Today, Jeff Sanders (D-York County) invited Democratic primary opponent John J. Moran II to join him in a series of weekly debates and policy announcements. Sanders proposes one debate and the release of one major policy position paper each week from next week to the last week before the April 4 primary.

"A healthy, substantive discussion is an excellent opportunity for the Democratic Party in South Central Pennsylvania to examine its priorities and select the candidate that best represents the ideals and values of its members," Sanders said. "I believe that debates and written policy statements are a great way for voters to decide not only who has the best ideas, but who has the character to follow through on those ideas after the election. I have faith that Adams, Cumberland, and York County Democrats will make the best choice for their party and their country once they get to know each of us."

A copy of Sanders' letter to Moran, faxed and mailed today, accompanies this release.
