Glass and Stokes Join Sanders for Congress Team Candidate Announces that County Commissioners will be Campaign Chairs
NEW FREEDOM, PA - Today Jeff Sanders (D-York County) announced that York County Commissioner Shirley Glass (D-Spring Grove) and Adams County Commissioner Harry Stokes (D-Gettysburg) will chair his campaign's executive committee. Each will lead the effort in their respective counties to ensure Sanders' success in both the April primary and the general election in November.
"I know no one in South Central Pennsylvania - Democrat or Republican - who has greater integrity or stronger commitment to public service than Shirley Glass and Harry Stokes," Sanders said. "Any campaign is a reflection of the candidate and to have Harry and Shirley on my team shows the voters what I'm all about - responsibility, vision, and, above all, character."
Glass and Stokes - as countywide elected officials - are the highest-ranking Democrats in York and Adams counties. They are both coming off successful reelection efforts and are serving in their second terms in office.
"I am proud to head Jeff's effort in York County. I've gotten to know Jeff well over the years and I've met few people with his high level of dedication to his community and devotion to principle. He has the knowledge and vision to know what is important to the people of South Central Pennsylvania, and the character to fight for them," Glass said.
"We need a congressman who understands the issues facing South Central Pennsylvania. From managing growth to equipping our local officials with the tools they need to confront complexities of public policy, our congressman should be a tireless champion for the issues facing rural America. That's why I'm supporting Jeff Sanders; he has the energy, passion and commitment to preserving, protecting and promoting all we cherish about our communities," Stokes said.
