About the Debate
Thursday's debate was a decisive victory for David Sanders! We saw a man of strength and conviction who demonstrated a steady command of the facts. David offered clear plans for creating jobs, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, and stopping the spread of biological weapons. He showed remarkable courage for exposing Steve Buyer's arrogant and contemptuous "off-the-record" remarks toward his opponents. We saw a man who we can be proud to call our next great Congressman!
For Steve Buyer, the debate can be "summed up" in two words - Missed Opportunities. He missed an opportunity to:
- Admit that his drug benefit plan has failed
- Assert unequivocally that he will oppose a military draft
- Retract his reckless statement that the U.S. ought to bomb Afghanistan with nuclear weapons
Instead, Steve Buyer began the debate by calling his opponents names and talking about sports. He ended the debate by espousing his moral superiority, then dashing out of the auditorium to avoid the press.
